Sending emails using UK ISP

Hi,

Just moved to Switzerland and subscribed to Swisscom services.  However, using my UK based email address and Outlook 2010 it only receives messages, not sends.

This seems to be a common problem but can anyone help with how to set up Outlook for sending emails using my UK ISP because the suggested changes on the Swisscom website do not work for me and their Help Line say they can't help because it isn't a Bluewin email address!

Thanks

Re: Sending emails using UK ISP

Welcome to Switzerland!

Normally you have to use authentication to send mails from an foreign provider. If your ISP provides an smtpauth login or similar you should use this. (If you receive a message like relaying not allowed)

This is used as a possibility to reduce spam.

Re: Sending emails using UK ISP

Did you resolve this?

If not, what is the email address after the @ e.g. @btinternet.com etc?

If you receive emails and send emails from an iPhone or Blackberry, you can use the same outgoing smtp settings for Outlook as you do for those handheld devices.

Googling the auth.smtp settings for your email provider might get you further.

Re: Sending emails using UK ISP

Found a solution that works.

Basically you have to open a Bluewin email account and then direct your Outlook settings for the outgoing mailserver to SMTPauth.bluewin.ch.

Then on the More Settings section, outgoing server tab, add your Bluewin email address as the user name and then the new bluewin email password.  Click remember password.

On advanced tab make the SMTP port number 587 and incoming 110.

Save and it should work.
